A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query under its own systems and returns the result. We do not keep a separate log or stored copy of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so it can be answered and documented. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view times and visit duration
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The pages viewed during a visit
- A referring website, when one is supplied
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Accomack County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material identifies official custodians such as the Accomack County Sheriff's Office, Accomack court clerks, the Virginia Department of State Police, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. We do not control those practices, so review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Accomack County offices, Virginia court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms govern. Those terms should be read before personal data is provided.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.

Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may grant rights over personal data, subject to its scope, exemptions, and verification rules. The Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Virginia Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., governs qualifying requests to public bodies, while Virginia Code § 19.2-389 limits dissemination of state criminal-history information. Those government-record laws do not turn this private site into an official custodian. Depending on the law that applies, a person may:
- Confirm whether personal data is being processed and obtain access
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Ask for deletion when the law provides that right
- Opt out of covered targeted advertising, sale, or profiling
